There was a time when I prayed for God to remove the pain. I wanted Him to fix everything immediately—to take away the hurt, silence the fear, answer every question, and rescue me from the consequences of my choices. Instead, He stayed with me.

Looking back, I realize something that once seemed impossible to believe: The places that came undone became the places where healing began.

For years, I viewed my brokenness as something to hide. I believed my mistakes, my addiction, my shame, and my failures disqualified me from being used by God. I thought if anyone saw the unraveling, they would only see weakness. But God saw something different. He saw the beginning of restoration.

Today, I can honestly say: Thank You for the pain. Thank You for the hurt. Thank You for the lonely nights, the frightening days, and the tears that never seemed to dry. Thank You for the restless nights and the uncertain mornings that reminded me I was never truly in control.

Thank You for the questions that echoed through my soul:
“Why?”
“Where are You?”
“Please help me.”

Even when I couldn’t hear His voice, He never stopped listening to mine. One of the greatest gifts God gave me was not rescuing me too soon. If He had removed every consequence the moment I asked, I may never have recognized how often I was searching for acceptance, comfort, approval, and escape everywhere except in Him.

Sometimes our greatest breakthrough doesn’t come when God changes our circumstances. It comes when He changes our hearts. Recovery taught me that healing isn’t simply about putting down a substance. It’s about surrendering the things we’ve placed before God—our pride, fear, control, relationships, habits, and false identities.

Healing began when I stopped trying to hold everything together and allowed God to meet me in the places that had fallen apart. When I had no hope, He became my hope. When anxiety overwhelmed me, He became my peace. When I was weak, He became my strength. When I was lost, He never lost sight of me. He never let go of me, even when I let go of Him. He kept calling me home. Not because I earned it. Not because I deserved it. But because His grace is always greater than my failures.

Today, my scars no longer remind me of what I’ve done. They remind me of what God has done. Every scar is evidence that healing is possible. Every scar is proof that God restores what the world says is beyond repair. Every scar whispers that His faithfulness is stronger than my brokenness. My life is not defined by what came undone. It is defined by what God chose to do with the unraveling.

He restored what was broken. He redeemed what I thought was beyond saving. He transformed my story into one that points others toward hope.

That’s the heart behind Unwoven. It’s the belief that the threads of our lives may come apart, but they are never beyond God’s reach. In His hands, even our unraveling becomes part of a greater story of healing, purpose, and redemption.

If you’re walking through a season where your life feels like it’s coming apart, don’t lose heart. What feels like the end may actually be the beginning. The places that came undone may become the very places where healing begins. And one day, just as I have, you may find yourself looking back—not grateful for the pain itself, but deeply grateful for the God who never wasted it.

 Reflection

Where in your life do you feel like things are coming undone?

What if God isn’t finished with that place yet?

What if the very area you’ve been trying to hide becomes the place where His healing shines the brightest?

Healing begins with surrender.

Hope begins with one step.

And home is always one prayer away.
